Since, by definition, this movement represents 99% of the population, it’s impossible to precisely define what “we” want. And, I certainly can’t speak for everybody, not even the majority probably, but here are key concerns that I keep hearing and seeing, over and over again:

1) We need to restore a fair and simpler taxation system.
2) We want job security – bring manufacturing back to the US.
3) We want to restore democracy to the people.
4) We want to overturn the Supreme Court decision against Citizens United.
5) We want to enforce truth in advertising – any candidate that lies in his or her campaign advertising should not be allowed to continue to advertise.
6) We want all lobbying efforts to be public – no more deals behind closed doors.
7) We want to put the salary decisions into the hands of the stockholders, where it should be.
We want all public corporate management bonuses to be contingent on ALL of the stakeholders sharing in the “win”. That would include the stockholders, the employees AND the environment.
9) We want a low – cost, cost –neutral, nationwide (moveable) health insurance plan that any American could participate in, if they choose, one that spends at least as much on prevention as it does healing.
10) We want to eliminate the current cap on the earnings that can be taxed for Social Security.
11) We want the SS trust fund totally separate from the national budget.
12) We want Congress to replenish the money that was stolen from the trust fund during past administrations.
13) We want to see investments in America over money spent on wars.
14) We want a safe, sustainable, healthy environment for our kids and their kids.
15) We want safe, healthy foods.

Grow up. If you don’t want to get permits, go protest in the county outside city or on private land. Generally, no permits required. You claim you want peace and love, but you act otherwise. The chronic problem with this movement is that they get the problems more or less right (economic stress, deadlocked government, debt, jobs, etc.) and then they fall of the far left cliff. Everything is the fault of greedy companies, evil CEOs, and “bought’ government. They start throwing around Michael More propaganda without thinking through what they are saying. The reality is a bit more nuanced, companies build what we consume and demand, CEOs try to make sure that companies make money, Government is made up of representatives WE elected, Economy is undergoing stress of conversion from local and industrial to global and informational. No easy answers and the only solution is good old voting. Tea party got that and besides protesting (legally) picked their representatives and are making themselves felt. Why can’t OWS do it?”
