Below is the three-phase boot camp training matrix for Parris Island. I am working on re-designing these schedules to make them easier to read. CLICK IMAGES TO VIEW LARGER SCHEDULE.

I just wanted to let you know how much reading your blog has meant to me. My son is at Parris Island Alpha Co. Plt.1001 and graduates January 15, 2010. So this has kept me informed as to his training.
Thanks and God Bless, Randy

Randy, thanks. I’m glad this blog is a resource for those who don’t know Kevin as well. I don’t know if you realize this, but he and your son will both be graduating on January 15th. Kevin is Alpha Co, Plt. 1000. The best to you and your family!
What you and your husband have created here is very interesting, perhaps first of its kind from the recruit training perspective.
As the Marine Corps anaylzes uses for Social Media and empowering Marines to tell their own stories, this initiative of yours may be more contextually examined by our leadership.
Respectfully,

Brittany, I realize that My son will be graduating with Kevin and hopefully we will see each other there and possibly meet My son is also in Alpha Co. plt 1001 so this blog goes right along with the letters that I have received only more informative. Thanks again and god bless.
Congratulations Marine! I’ve really enjoyed reliving boot camp through you eyes — thanks for sharing! There’s honestly nothing more helpful to recruits headed for boot camp than to read candid first-hand experiences from folks like you. Thanks to both you and your wife for your dedication to helping those many Marines who will now seek to stand by your side.
I’ll see if we can find a Marine to address your MCT questions, but I would also encourage both you and our Marine families to contact your recruiter for up-to-date information about what to expect at MCT.
does anyone know how long it takes to leave for bootcamp?

It depends. If you go reservist, then you’ll be able to leave before most Poolees and you will get pushed to the front of the training cycles for MCT and your MOS school.
Most people leave within 3 months of signing up, but you could end up waiting as long as 6 months. Your recruiter should be able to give you an exact date though.

Thank to everyone who followed along while I was at boot camp. My drill instructors, my series Gunny, Company Commander and even the Paris Island Public Affairs all found my blog while I was at boot camp.
Let’s just say that I had an interesting week
I’m finally done with Boot Camp, MCT and my MOS school and I have no regrets. The Marine Corps is a once in a lifetime opportunity, despite the difficulties it may present at times.

For the gas chamber questions.
It sucks to say the least, but it’s all a matter of maintaining your bearing.
In my opinion, the chamber was the worst part of training back in 95 when I went through.
However, keep in mind that there is a gas chamber re-qual every year of your time as a US Marine. It gets easier, but still not a pleasant experience.
Anyhow, to Kevin.
Happy holidays future DevilDog.
